Home Visits
If you are unable to get to the surgery because you've got a serious illness preventing you leaving the house, or are housebound you can call to arrange a home visit. Please remember, such visits are for medical, not social or personal reasons.
If you feel you need to be seen at home, please contact the surgery as soon as possible and ideally before 10am for routine matters.
It is standard practice for most GPs to telephone before attending to assess the urgency and indeed need for a visit. Please don't be surprised if you are therefore called before a doctor arrives. In general, a GP can see four patients in surgery for every visit they make to a patient 's home so we need to ensure they are seeing those in the most need. Their absence from the surgery could compromise the care they can offer to others.
A GP is always available in an 'on call' capacity throughout the day to assess urgent requests for home visits.
The out of hours service locally has capacity to see people at home, who are too ill to attend their treatment centres.
