Chevin Medical Practice offers a wide range of additional medical services some of which are free to our patients and some are not within the funding the Practice receives from the NHS so you will be charged directly. Minor Surgery
Chevin Medical Practice is proud to have a long history of offering NHS patients minor operations in the comfort and convenience of your local Surgery setting. We are able to offer removal of skin lesions (including moles, naevi, cysts, lipomata and skin tags) under local anaesthetic in our purpose built treatment rooms.
Our minor surgery service is free of charge to our NHS patients.
If you and your GP agree that you require minor surgery you may be referred to our in-house service for assessment and ultimately surgery.
We use sterile single-use instruments and follow aseptic techniques to ensure the lowest possible risk of infection and the best possible cosmetic results in our minor surgery service.
Joint Injections
We have years of expertise within the Practice in injecting a wide variety of joints for a varied array of conditions (including but not exclusive to osteoarthritis, carpal tunnel syndrome, capsulitis of the shoulder, plantar fasciitis and subacromial bursitis).
Our joint injection service is free of charge to our NHS patients.
If you and your GP agree that you require a joint injection you will be referred to one of our skilled GPs for assessment and an injection.
We use sterile single-use instruments and follow aseptic techniques to ensure the lowest possible risk of infection and the best possible results from our joint injection service.
IUD, Implanons, Nexplanon & Contraception
Chevin Medical Practice is able to offer a full family planning service to our NHS patients including counselling for the IUD (Intrauterine Device, also known as the coil, including the Mirena Coil) and Implanon & Nexplanon long-acting reversible contraceptives that are delivered as a small rod beneath the skin under local anaesthetic and provide contraception for up to 3 years without the need for regular check-ups or daily pill taking. They are proving very popular.
Our family planning service is free of charge to our NHS patients.
If you would like to discuss coils (IUDs) or implanon & Nexplanon, please make an appointment to discuss with Dr Muirhead or Dr Fox who are trained in their counselling, insertion and follow up (and removal). All the GPs within the Practice are happy to discuss wider family planning issues and prescriptions.
