Test Results
If your GP or Nurse suggests you have a test we understand that you will be keen for the result to be back with us and in the hands of your GP or Nurse as soon as possible. We receive a large volume of results each day and also calls from patients anxious to know the results of their tests. Quite often patients will contact us before we have had chance to receive a result (and certainly before your GP or Nurse has had reasonable time to consider it properly and pass comment).Handling these calls can divert us from attending to other patients in medical need at that time.Please do not make an appointment to discuss a result with your GP or Nurse unless they have instructed you to do so. Please telephone between 10am and 2pm after the recommended timescale has elapsed to hear the result of your test.Please do not ask someone else to ring on your behalf for test results.Please note that due to the volume of workload we do not routinely contact patients to inform them of normal results.Approximate timescales for test resultsRoutine Blood and Urine tests Five working days from date of receipt by the lab.Routine Plain Xrays Ten working days from date of XrayRoutine MRI, Ultrasound & CT Ten working days from date of InvestigationRoutine Cervical Smear Four-Five weeks from date of the smear being taken
